This is why Narcotics Anonymous exists. This group provides addicts with the help and support they need to move beyond their addiction.
Throughout “The Program”, which many members call it, addicts work to identify the flaws in their personality and develop healthy techniques for coping with cravings. Each member chooses a “sponsor”, who is a recovered addict that acts as a mentor to them through their recovery journey.
Ultimately, the goal of NA is to get to a point where the addict is confident enough in their own sobriety that they can mentor others. Many members find that the sponsorship program is the most valuable aspect of this organization.

We’ll admit that there aren’t as many Narcotics Anonymous meetings in Lewiston as there should be. With only one or two within a 20-mile radius each day, addicts may not always have access to the support they need.
Fortunately, it’s relatively easy to start your own. All you really need is a meeting place, a few years of sobriety under your belt and a strong desire to help others.

So, if you’ve just moved to the area and find the current meeting selection to be insufficient, you should consider starting your own group. You’re likely to find that the local community is highly receptive to your efforts.
The Alcoholics Anonymous program is similar to Narcotics Anonymous in the sense that it provides a support network for addicts.
It operates the same, too. Each member works through the Twelve Steps in an attempt to move beyond their condition into a happier, healthier life.
The difference, of course, is that this program caters to alcoholics instead of narcotics users. This doesn’t mean that drug addicts are prohibited from attending but most of the conversation revolves around alcohol addiction.
In these meetings, alcoholics spend time discussing their addiction and talking about their experiences. They also update the group on their recovery progress.
While this program doesn’t work well for everyone, many individuals find that it’s a valuable resource for them.

Sometimes people are unable to attend groups like AA or NA in person. These individuals often think that they simply cannot get the support they need. But that is not true at all. There are many online options for people who are in need of a 12-Step group.
The Narcotics Anonymous website can be a great source of information for anyone who is searching for NA meetings online. They list more than 300 of them on their website. These meetings are taking place every day of the week.
For those who live in Lewiston, finding AA meetings online should be quite easy. There are several available. The Washington State East Chapter of AA offers many options for online AA meetings. They allow people who are local to the area to connect with others virtually in their communities.
Also, the Online Intergroup AA organization has listed many online AA meetings on their website. These meetings are held frequently, and they use a variety of online platforms, including Zoom and Skype.
Families and young people need the type of support that comes from attending Al-Anon and Alateen meetings. They can be accessed online through the Al-Anon website.
Al-Anon offers regular virtual meetings, but they have also provided ways for families to get support at any time of the day or night. Alateen chat meetings can be very beneficial to teens between the ages of 13 and 18. They can work as a supplement or substitution for in-person meetings.

See, when you’re addicted to a substance, your brain is chemically changed in a fundamental way. Essentially, it becomes trained to depend on the substance to function.
