Addiction Recovery Resources in the Kuna, ID Area

Kuna, ID Area Drug and Alcohol Addiction Recovery Resources

Alcohol and drug addiction recovery resources in the Kuna, Idaho area can be so helpful for people with substance abuse problems. The issue is that many people do not know these resources exist. Many believe that going to treatment is the only way to recover, but that is not entirely true. Support groups like Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous can be incredibly helpful. There are even ways for families to get support and encouragement through Al-Anon and Alateen.

For those who battle addictions and who want to quit, they often struggle with where to turn. There is a common fear that goes along with stopping the use of drugs and/or alcohol. It helps to know that they are not alone. That is what makes attending a support group so important.

We would like to take this opportunity to provide a list of the addiction recovery resources in the Kuna area. We are not affiliated with any of these organizations, but we feel it is important to let people know what is available to them.

About Alcoholics Anonymous

In 1935, two men who were both alcoholics had a desire to stop drinking. They saw a need for a peer support group filled with likeminded individuals to accomplish their goal. That was how Alcoholics Anonymous got its beginnings.

Today, there are AA meetings taking place in many countries all over the world. They focus on a 12-Step method of recovery, and the meetings are held on a weekly basis. Meetings can be both open (anyone can attend) or closed (only alcoholics can attend). The only requirement for membership is to have a desire to stop drinking.

It is possible to find several AA meetings in the Kuna area. The following is a list of all of the meetings within the local community.

About Narcotics Anonymous

Even though AA has helped so many people, those with drug addictions did not have a similar type of support group. That is what led to the founding of Narcotics Anonymous in 1955. This organization offers groups to people with any type of addiction. They also follow the 12 Steps of Recovery.

Stopping the use of drugs is very difficult, and it often takes peer support in order to accomplish it. NA meets that need for people all over the world. Members attend weekly meetings where they can talk with each other and get the encouragement they need.

There are several Kuna area NA meetings taking place all week long. The following is a list of them within a 100-mile radius of the city.

What are Al-Anon and Alateen?

When a loved one has a drinking problem or is using drugs, it can be very difficult for families to cope. They often find themselves isolated with no one to talk to about the challenges they face on a regular basis. Al-Anon meets a need that they have by offering support groups with others who understand.

Al Anon and Alateen brings help to loved ones having addict people inside they enviroment

Alateen is a part of the Al-Anon organization that has been set aside just for young people. Teenagers and young adults are able to come together and discuss the issues they struggle with because of a loved one’s substance abuse problem.

Families can get so much support by attending a Kuna area Al-Anon meeting on a regular basis. The following is a list of them within a 25-mile radius of the city.

Young people are always welcome to attend an Al-Anon meeting in their local area. Also, there are online Alateen chat meetings for teenagers between the ages of 13 and 18 years old. These meetings are overseen by adults, and they can be a great way for young people to get the support they need.

Should You Consider Drug and Alcohol Treatment?

This is the question so many people with substance abuse problems have. They want to know if their conditions are so severe that they need to get professional help. The reality is that when someone is new to treatment, they often need to go through both detox and rehab in order to recover successfully.

Detoxification is a type of treatment that addresses a person’s withdrawal symptoms. It can help them stop using with less discomfort, and even potentially avoid some of the complications that can occur when stopping the use of drugs or alcohol.

Detox programs use different approaches in their treatment options. Most will offer patients medications to help with their symptoms, and this is called medical detox. Many will combine medication with holistic treatments.

People attend drug and alcohol rehab because they need counseling to continue their treatment. They have the opportunity to work with a therapist in a one-on-one setting. They also get to participate in group therapy and at times, 12-Step meetings.

During rehab, the goal is to determine what caused the addiction to occur. For many, it was caused by a co-occurring disorder, which is a mental health issue. People will often use substances to help their symptoms, and they often do not know they are doing it for that reason.
