Sometimes, medical detox involves a tapering process. Essentially, this means that the addict weans off of their substance slowly. This minimizes pain and increases safety.

Other times, the doctor may prescribe non-addictive medication to help the patient cope with their withdrawal symptoms. These can be extremely beneficial for recovering addicts.

If they aren’t equipped to deal with the stressors and triggers they encounter in everyday life, they run the risk of relapsing.

AA is a worldwide organization that provides support to people who suffer from alcohol addiction. The group holds meetings every single day in almost every city on Earth. All AA meetings are free. And, most of them are open to the public.
In typical AA meetings, alcoholics get together to discuss their addiction experiences. They share stories, talk about their lives, and offer updates on the progress of their recovery. Although the subject matter is heavy, meetings are generally jovial, upbeat, and supportive.

NA is similar to Alcoholics Anonymous. However, this group was designed for drug addicts. The people who belong to this group are addicted to everything from crystal meth and cocaine to heroin and prescription opioids.
There are no requirements for membership. No matter what a person has done in their life or what drugs they’re addicted to, the group is happy to have them.
The Narcotics Anonymous community in Spokane Valley is vibrant and electric. In each meeting, dozens of addicts convene to unite over the common theme of addiction. Many members find that this is the most beneficial resource for addicts.

Al-Anon is a group designed for the families of addicts. After all, addiction hurts these people, too.
Oftentimes, the parents, children, spouses, and children of addicts suffer in silence. They may feel guilty, ashamed, angry, or depressed. They may worry constantly about their loved one and might even lose sleep over the situation. This is a hard life to live.
Al-Anon meetings are a place where addicts can go to find support. In these meetings, family members get together and talk about how their lives have been affected. They share stories, speak honestly about their feelings, and open up about their fears. For many people, this outlet is a great form of therapy.
Members come from all different backgrounds. They’ve experienced all kinds of different things. Some people have suffered physically while others suffer emotionally. Some members lost family members to addiction while others are afraid of losing their family member.

Even though many people would prefer to attend a 12-Step program like AA or NA, that is not always the best approach. These programs do provide a lot of support, but the peer counseling aspect of them is not enough for everyone.
In the beginning stages of recovery, most people need the structure and support that can only be found with professional treatment. Drug and alcohol rehab can be a life-changing experience. People get the opportunity to work with professionals who understand the best ways to treat substance abuse problems. They also benefit from their expertise; especially because most of the time, they have helped others heal from the same types of addictions.
Rehab offers people the chance to focus on themselves and do what they need to do to recover. It is an excellent option, and one that just about everyone should consider.
There are nine different addiction treatment programs located within a 5-mile radius of Spokane Valley. They are a mix of inpatient and outpatient programs, but only one of them offers detoxification services.
For those who are searching for additional options, there are 50 rehab centers within a 25-mile radius of the city. These programs are still very convenient for those who need treatment.
Every effort should be made to choose a treatment program carefully. The best ones will be in-network with the client’s insurance. Also, opting for a program with a smaller client population tends to be ideal. It allows for more time for staff/client interactions.

Northpoint Washington is our inpatient treatment program, and it is located in Edmonds, Washington. They offer a comprehensive drug detox and rehab program, as well as alcoholism treatment.
Their inpatient program runs for 28 days, and that includes the time spent during the detoxification process. After detoxing, their patients begin intensive therapy, which includes working in an individual setting with a therapist, as well as group therapy. Other forms of treatment may be recommended as well.
Our Nampa facility is only 6.5 hours away from Spokane Valley. However, if you are searching for in-state treatment, we have facilities in Washington State as well.
