Addiction Rehab and Recovery Options in SeaTac, WA

SeaTac, Washington Alcohol and Drug Treatment and Addiction Recovery Help

Going to drug and alcohol rehab can be so effective for those who live in the SeaTac, WA area who are struggling with substance abuse.

There are many different ways to get help for an addiction, and there are lots of recovery resources in the local area. The problem is that people do not know what is available to them.

Many of the area’s recovery resources are free. For example, Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous do not have membership fees or meeting dues. They are both 12-Step programs that are based on peer support and counseling. People often like this model, and both AA and NA have been responsible for helping millions of people worldwide.

Families with addicted loved ones often face challenges that are very unique and quite difficult. They may feel as though they have nowhere to turn, and we want to let them know that there is help available for them as well. Al-Anon and Alateen can be incredible resources for hurting families.

We are not affiliated with these programs in any way, but we believe in them. Along with professional treatment, they are just some of the addiction recovery resources that can help people in the SeaTac area.

Local Support Groups Near SeaTac, Washington

Despite what many may think, addiction is an actual disease. And that means overcoming it takes more than just willpower and dedication. Instead, anyone struggling with a substance use disorder needs to be backed up by a solid support system to help them stay motivated and prevent relapse in the long run.

Local support groups are an excellent source of this kind of support. Many are free to attend, open to all, and widely available in many cities across the nation.

Below are some of the best local support groups holding meetings in and around the SeaTac area.

Perhaps the most popular support group in the world, Alcoholics Anonymous has long stood as one of the best ways for recovering alcoholics to get the guidance they need to stay sober.

It was founded in 1935 in Akron, Ohio and since then has grown to an estimated global membership of almost 2.1 million in 2017.

This group is also built on the 12-step model – a recovery approach that encourages humility, courage, and honesty in the face of addiction.

This model is actually so successful that it's even endorsed by the National Institute on Drug Abuse.

There are quite a few meetings happening in and around SeaTac too. Below are just some of the closest.

The 12-step model first developed by Alcoholics Anonymous was so successful that it spawned a variety of offshoots using the same approach to treat different forms of addiction. Narcotics Anonymous is one of the first of these offshoots.

Like Alcoholics Anonymous, NA is free, open to anyone, and widely available. But unlike AA, Narcotics Anonymous addresses substance addictions of all kinds, not just alcoholism.

Alcoholism can have an enormous negative impact on a problem drinker’s quality of life. But on top of that, it can also create serious issues for the friends and family members of an alcoholic too. And in many cases, these individuals don’t get the support they need to live happy and healthy lives.

Al-Anon is a 12-step group dedicated to helping these victims of addiction rather than just the alcoholics themselves. And it’s been an invaluable source of support for so many since it first began.

Al-Anon groups are a little harder to find than other 12-step groups in many cases. But luckily, there are plenty to choose from happening in and around SeaTac, Washington.

While Al-Anon can be great for those who have suffered as a result of their friend or family member’s drinking, not everyone will feel comfortable sharing their experiences in these groups. And with young people in particular, opening up can be tough when surrounded by people two, three, or even four times their age.

Alateen is an Al-Anon offshoot that gathers young people of the same age who have been hurt by another person’s drinking. This helps members feel more comfortable sharing and opens up the door to healing that may have otherwise been out of reach.

There are a few Alateen meetings in the area to consider attending.

Being raised in a home tainted by alcohol can be traumatic in some cases. And for many, this trauma can persist well into adulthood, causing serious functional and mental problems that many victims might suffer from for the rest of their lives.

Adult Children of Alcoholics or ACoA is a 12-step program that focuses specifically on helping these individuals in particular. And for many, it’s been a vital source of support and the only way they’ve been able to overcome their past trauma.

There are a few ACoA meetings happening nearby.

While 12-step programs are the most well-known kinds of support groups when it comes to addiction, they certainly aren’t the only options available. SMART Recovery is one of the best 12-step alternatives in the SeaTac area.

These groups are based firmly in scientific evidence and are entirely non-spiritual in nature. Meetings are also led by certified instructors rather than group members themselves, which can mean clearer messaging, greater consistency, and a more coherent plan in some cases.

There are quite a few SMART Recovery groups happening in the area too.

While face-to-face meetings are typically the best way to get the support a recovering addict needs, not everyone will be able to make it to these groups. It may be a lack of transportation that holds them back. Or it could be embarrassment and shame because of the stigmas surrounding addiction.

But no matter what the reasons are, there are in fact other ways to get vital support. And online groups are some of the most flexible. These meetings take place over email, in real-time chatrooms, or even through video teleconferencing. It depends on the group.

Below are just a few of the best places to get started finding an online group that works for you.

Professional Treatment for The Best Recovery Outcomes

While support is a vital part of any recovery program, the overwhelming majority of addicts will need a much higher level of treatment in order to get clean for good. And that’s where professional addiction treatment programs come into play.

These programs make use of evidence-based treatments that are scientifically proven to support long-term recovery. They may use medications like Vivitrol or buprenorphine to help treat withdrawals and cravings, or they may depend on more holistic methods like nutrition plans and exercise regimens. They can, of course, also offer a combination.

But without a doubt, a professional program is the absolute best way to ensure a successful recovery.

There are two main types of professional programs available: detoxification programs and rehabilitation programs.

During detoxification, the main focus is on helping patients push through the often painful symptoms of withdrawal. This is where the body reacclimates to functioning normally without the help of the addictive substance. And for many, it can be the most physically trying part of recovery. Many end up relapsing just as a way to get some form of relief from these symptoms.

A professional detoxification program helps keep patients safe and sober through this difficult period using special medications, treatments, and strategies. They can also help prevent and treat complications that can end up being deadly without medical intervention.

After detoxification comes rehabilitation. While detox is typically concerned with the physical dependency that typically comes along with addiction, rehab is more about treating the mental side of addiction. The compulsive drug-seeking habits, the self-destructive behaviors, and the lack of healthy coping mechanisms of an addict are all treated using one-on-one counseling, group talk, and behavioral therapies.

There are also a couple of different types of rehabs to choose from.

  • InpatientThese programs are usually about 30 days long and involve the highest level of care available. Patients are typically required to eat, sleep, and receive treatment all in the same centralized locations. And while this can make recovery more successful, it can also be quite disruptive to day-to-day life.
  • Outpatient – These programs are a bit more flexible than inpatient. Patients are allowed to spend their days and nights as they wish since treatment sessions usually take place in the evenings or on the weekends. That means that they can go to work, attend school, or fulfill family obligations that might be prohibited in an inpatient program. They’re usually about 3 months long.
  • Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOPs) – An IOP maintains the flexibility of an outpatient program while also offering a higher level of care. Treatment sessions usually occur in the evenings still but will last longer and occur more frequently throughout the week. They’re typically about 3 months long too.

While there aren’t any addiction facilities within SeaTac itself, there are quite a few options outside of the city. However, it’s important to remember that one of the biggest factors in a successful recovery is finding the right treatment program, not necessarily the closest.

And in fact, choosing to travel outside of SeaTac can actually end up being one of the best recovery decisions you can make.

That’s because doing so opens up the door to significantly more facilities, thus making it easier to find better treatments and a higher quality of service that might be unavailable in the surrounding areas. Both of these, of course, can add up to a better shot at long-term recovery.

There are a variety of other benefits associated with travelling for treatment to consider too. Below are some of the most notable.

  • More advanced facilities and greater expertise in treating your specific type of addiction.
  • Better amenities to make recovery far more comfortable.
  • A new environment to help make it easier to adopt new life strategies.
  • More privacy and confidentiality.
  • A program that, due to its location, can make it less likely you’ll quit the program just because of a bad day.
  • A more solidified commitment to recovery.

About the Drug and Alcohol Rehab Centers in SeaTac

People who have never had any type of professional treatment before should begin by going to rehab. A quality alcohol and drug rehabilitation program can make such a big difference as far as long-term outcomes go. Most people need the higher level of support that they can get in a professional setting.

It is so important to treat all aspects of a person’s addiction. That is something that can be missed when they only participate in AA or NA. Many people need treatment for co-occurring disorders, and without it, they are very likely to suffer a relapse.

There are no alcohol and drug rehabilitation programs located directly in SeaTac. But according to the SAMHSA treatment locator, there are many options for treatment close by.

There are a total of 46 different options for rehab within 10 miles of SeaTac. Some of them offer inpatient services, while others focus on meeting their clients’ outpatient needs.

The Outpatient Alcohol and Drug Rehab Program at Ashwood Recovery

At Ashwood Recovery, our outpatient rehab program is known to be among the best in the state. We offer a number of different services to ensure that our clients get exactly what they need to be successful. These can include medication intervention, family therapy and holistic care.

We know that people experience addiction very differently. Likewise, they need personalized approaches to treatment. We offer three different levels of care in order to meet as many people’s needs as possible. Our program includes traditional outpatient rehab, intensive outpatient treatment and partial hospitalization services.

We also have outpatient programs in Washington State. Northpoint Seattle has one location in Seattle, their programs are excellent, and they offer many of the same services that we do at Ashwood Recovery.

Our Inpatient Rehab Program in Washington State

In most cases, people in need of addiction treatment need to begin with an inpatient program. We highly recommend our facility, Northpoint Washington, which is located in the City of Edmonds.

At Northpoint Washington, they offer both detox and rehab services. They treat drug and alcohol addiction, and they have a 28-day program that has shown to be very effective.

Is Professional Alcohol and Drug Rehab Affordable?

Most people avoid considering going to professional treatment because they think they cannot afford it. What many of them do not realize is that their health insurance providers are required to provide them with rehab benefits. They also have some type of coverage to help with the cost of detoxification.

Recovering from an addiction is hard, and it gets even harder when the individual has to worry about how to pay for it. Many people who choose outpatient programs find that the cost is covered in full. The coverage may also be good for inpatient rehab, but everyone should check their own policies to find out about co-pays.

At Ashwood Recovery, we accept many of the major insurance providers in this area. We are in-network with Blue Cross of Idaho and many other health insurance companies. That allows us to minimize the out-of-pocket costs for our clients.
